The Packers spent real capital to be 63 picks early on Evan Williams, and the board is going to hold them to it. It nets out a thoroughly average C+.

That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Spending an early pick on linebacker with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open is the decision the grade keeps circling back to.

So much rides on Jordan Morgan that the real verdict is a season or two away.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Jordan Morgan · OT · rank 34
In slot 25 they get a long-term starter on the line, even if it was a touch early. A real need, handled.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Edgerrin Cooper · LB · rank 48
They took Edgerrin Cooper at par in No. 41, which is nothing to complain about. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Javon Bullard · S · rank 54
Javon Bullard in pick No. 58 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Roger Rosengarten · OT · rank 97
A premium they did not need to pay, Roger Rosengarten a notch or two before his time. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · MarShawn Lloyd · RB · rank 94
MarShawn Lloyd at the 91st pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Trevin Wallace · LB · rank 151
They zigged when the board said zag, taking Trevin Wallace at linebacker with edge rusher, cornerback and other spots open.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Evan Williams · S · rank 232
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Evan Williams. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Jacob Monk · OT · rank 234
A big swing on Jacob Monk at Round 6, Pick 27, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Trey Taylor · S · rank 230
They went early on Trey Taylor in pick 219, and the value did not follow. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 277
They talked themselves into Jalen Sundell at the 245th pick, and the board did not agree. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · LaDarius Henderson · OT · rank 284
LaDarius Henderson in the 255th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
