Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Vikings spent pick No. 244 on Hykeem Williams, a name the board had a full 45 spots lower. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Slaughter falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The Cobie Durant deal gives the class an established piece to lean on.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
Kayden McDonald at pick 20 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Jacob Rodriguez at pick No. 57 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They will replay Jadarian Price at the 82nd pick for years; that is how good the value is. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Jake Slaughter in the Round 3 slot should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Value with a capital V on Daylen Everette in No. 92, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
A conviction pick on Bud Clark at Round 3, Pick 33 that the board grades a round light. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Nate Boerkircher in slot 163; it is a wash and a sensible one. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
