The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Braelon Allen slide 46 picks past his grade and did not hesitate.
Reaching for Logue left real value on the table behind him. They punted on tight end, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The trade work was a quiet net positive.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with wide receiver the one that mattered most.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 32 they get a go-to option on the outside, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Somehow Tyler Nubin was still sitting there in the 63rd overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
A wild overpay on Jaylin Simpson in Round 4, Pick 31, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Fair-plus on Jalyx Hunt, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Braelon Allen at No. 157 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Decamerion Richardson at the Round 5 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
A straight-up fair deal on Jaden Crumedy at slot 200, value and slot in agreement. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 211 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Value said wait; Zion Logue in the 248th overall pick says they were not listening. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
