Nobody else had Tanner McLachlan anywhere near No. 103. The Commanders did, by 119 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A-.
They banked enough surplus on Chambers to cover a lot of smaller sins. The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
Bottom line, with Chop Robinson leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 30 they get juice off the edge, outstanding value to boot.
Tyler Guyton in pick 36 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Jordan Morgan at the 40th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Kamari Lassiter at slot 62 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
The board had Jeremiah Trotter Jr. higher than Round 3, Pick 3, and the linebacker fell to them anyway. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Michael Pratt this early at the Round 4 slot. It fills a real need, too.
Tanner McLachlan in slot 103 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They took Beau Brade at par in No. 138, which is nothing to complain about. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Mason McCormick at the 181st pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Steele Chambers here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
