A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-.

You can fall in love with a player. You are not supposed to marry him in the wrong round. The Packers did exactly that with Evan Anderson in slot 219. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. Getting Laube where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.

The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Graham Barton · OT · rank 25
In No. 25 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Darius Robinson · DL-EDGE · rank 39
No drama and no debate, Darius Robinson went about where he belonged in the Round 2 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · DJ James · CB · rank 53
A reasonable price with a little left over, DJ James in the 58th pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
A clean, defensible pick in the 88th overall pick with a little surplus value in Jaden Hicks. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Cedric Gray · LB · rank 113
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Cedric Gray well ahead of where he belonged. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Elijah Jones · CB · rank 115
Elijah Jones in slot 126 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Dylan Laube · RB · rank 157
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Dylan Laube in the Round 5 slot. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Nathaniel Watson · LB · rank 212
The board had cheaper options than Nathaniel Watson at slot 202, and it noticed. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Evan Anderson · DL · rank 282
They reached into another round for Evan Anderson, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
R7.25 · Pick 245 · Jalen Sundell · OT · rank 246
No edge and no loss on Jalen Sundell in No. 245; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R7.35 · Pick 255 · Bub Means · WR · rank 245
Bub Means at pick 255 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
