Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Luke McCaffrey got past him. The Dolphins do not have to explain a thing at slot 184. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through tight end. They are betting Milton III proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.
Good work on the whole, with tight end the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 24 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A tidy little value on Edgerrin Cooper in the 55th overall pick, a step better than break-even. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Patrick Paul in Round 3, Pick 28 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Mohamed Kamara slipping to the 126th pick is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A straight-up fair deal on Trevor Keegan at pick No. 158, value and slot in agreement. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Luke McCaffrey at No. 184 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Joe Milton III in slot 198 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Nice patience on Garret Greenfield, who had no business lasting to the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
