The Cowboys' one glaring miss is cornerback, a need they left exactly as they found it. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will need Allen to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Morgan.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Morgan at No. 35 is the proof. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No drama and no debate, Edgerrin Cooper went about where he belonged in Round 2, Pick 24. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They took Zach Frazier at par in the 66th pick, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They paid up for Tyler Davis at slot 87 when waiting would have done the job. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Justin Eboigbe in pick 124 is fair value, right on his grade. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Value said wait; Braelon Allen in the 133rd overall pick says they were not listening. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
By-the-book stuff, Jordan Jefferson at pick No. 174 squarely in line with his ranking. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Isaiah Neyor at the Round 6 slot, value and slot in agreement. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A reach on Jordan Johnson in the 245th pick; the board had better options right there. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
