Somehow the biggest item on the list survived the weekend. The Packers never addressed quarterback, and it is the kind of gap that lingers. No fireworks, but a solid B.
If Johnson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Colson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.
They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. They reloaded the coverage unit in bulk.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
A quiet steal in slot 41: Tyler Nubin for less than the market said. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 57th overall pick is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Junior Colson at pick 88. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Mike Sainristil is a better player than the Round 3 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Nothing to complain about; Sataoa Laumea went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. The roster fit checks out.
Value said wait; Cedric Johnson in pick No. 135 says they were not listening. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
