The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Broncos watched Connor Lew slide 27 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They left with linebacker solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
Taking Anthony Hill Jr. in pick 62 is close to grand larceny; a linebacker that good had no business lasting this long. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Sam Roush is a better player than slot 108 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Circle this one: Connor Lew at No. 111 is a fall that decides a draft. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Nothing to complain about; Demond Claiborne went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Value with a capital V on Latrell McCutchin Sr. in the 246th pick, a genuine coup. It adds depth where they could use a little.
John Michael Gyllenborg in pick No. 256 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They barely believed it either: Zavion Thomas still on the board at the Round 7 slot. The roster fit checks out.
