The war room fell hard for DeMonte Capehart, and it showed at pick No. 89: 49 picks ahead of a board that had other ideas.
The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. On value alone, Styles makes the weekend a net positive. On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker, and a steal at that.
Good price on Gennings Dunker in the 57th pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
They took Jake Slaughter at par in Round 2, Pick 28, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for DeMonte Capehart. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Zxavian Harris in the 129th overall pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
A real head-scratcher, Adam Randall in slot 239 is miles ahead of his ranking. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
