The Cowboys did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Jay Higgins fell into pick 149. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.
Every board in the league had Belton lower, and that gap is the story. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
They went 6 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 11 they get a disruptive interior force. A clean fit for the roster.
Value said wait; Kenneth Grant in No. 42 says they were not listening. The roster fit checks out.
Omarion Hampton at pick 75 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The board fumbled Jay Higgins all the way to the 149th pick, and they scooped it up. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
