The Giants spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Keagen Trost, the No. 184 name on the board, in slot 217. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped safety, which is a strange place to end up. Gill-Howard has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but safety.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 5 they get a workhorse for the backfield. A clean fit for the roster.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Colton Hood at the 37th overall pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Connor Lew in slot 105 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A conviction pick on Skyler Gill-Howard at the Round 5 slot that the board grades a round light. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Kaleb Elarms-Orr in No. 186 lands just on the right side of the ledger. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Matt Gulbin in pick No. 192. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Eric Rivers in pick 193 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
A offensive lineman of that caliber at the 217th pick is the definition of value, full stop. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
