The trade table was where it all came apart. The Giants shipped out far more than they hauled back, and no amount of spin dresses up the bill. Hard to defend, and the D+ reflects that.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Getting Rivers where they did is the sort of value that quietly makes a class.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, edge rusher very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 5 they get a two-high chess piece at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Nothing to complain about; Peter Woods went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Chase Bisontis. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Bryce Lance in the Round 4 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They let Kaleb Proctor come to them and pounced at the 145th pick. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
They did well to land Kaleb Elarms-Orr in pick 186, just ahead of his grade. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Eric Rivers in the Round 6 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
No drama and no debate, Kobe Baynes went about where he belonged in pick 193. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
