The Giants spent the weekend waiting on one name, and it fell: Dontay Corleone, the No. 70 name on the board, in No. 105. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. Leaving safety unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
So much rides on Arvell Reese that the real verdict is a season or two away.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 5 they get a three-down second-level presence at fair value.
A quiet steal in pick No. 44: Brandon Cisse for less than the market said. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Lee Hunter. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Dontay Corleone at the 105th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Circle this one: Trey Zuhn III at No. 145 is a fall that decides a draft. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Good price on Keagen Trost in Round 6, Pick 5, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Zane Durant at the 192nd overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
The board fumbled Reggie Virgil all the way to pick 193, and they scooped it up. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
