Green Bay Packers

Good, not great, for the Packers: B-.

Everything else got attention, and quarterback got none. That is a strange way for the Packers to leave a draft. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

If McCormick pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. If one pick saves this weekend, it is Pearl.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.25 · Pick 25 · Cooper DeJean · CB · rank 26
In the Round 1 slot they get a lockdown presence outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.9 · Pick 41 · Jonathon Brooks · RB · rank 48
No drama and no debate, Jonathon Brooks went about where he belonged in No. 41. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R2.26 · Pick 58 · Payton Wilson · LB · rank 57
No edge and no loss on Payton Wilson in Round 2, Pick 26; it is a wash and a sensible one. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R3.25 · Pick 88 · Christian Mahogany · OG · rank 98
Christian Mahogany in slot 88 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R3.28 · Pick 91 · Jaden Hicks · S · rank 85
A tidy little value on Jaden Hicks in pick 91, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R4.26 · Pick 126 · Mason McCormick · OT · rank 146
Mason McCormick in pick No. 126 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.33 · Pick 169 · Khristian Boyd · DL-EDGE · rank 178
A reach for Khristian Boyd in the 169th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R6.27 · Pick 202 · Myles Cole · DE-EDGE · rank 197
Myles Cole in the 202nd pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.44 · Pick 219 · Julian Pearl · OT · rank 204
Julian Pearl is a better player than Round 6, Pick 44 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
