Arizona Cardinals

Dart should have been long gone. The Cardinals pounced, and earned a B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Cardinals were there to profit. Jaxson Dart, the No. 62 name on the board, should have been long gone before pick 136. The bottom line is a respectable B.

Leaving running back unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. On the needs board they went 4 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most. The back end got a real overhaul.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.8 · Pick 8 · Travis Hunter · CB · rank 3
In Round 1, Pick 8 they get a potential shutdown corner. Need was not the driver here.
R2.8 · Pick 40 · Jack Sawyer · DE-EDGE · rank 22
Jack Sawyer in slot 40 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R3.8 · Pick 72 · Mykel Williams · DE-EDGE · rank 40
You do not let an edge rusher like Mykel Williams reach the 72nd overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R4.8 · Pick 104 · Jahdae Barron · S · rank 60
Jahdae Barron in pick No. 104 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.8 · Pick 136 · Jaxson Dart · QB · rank 62
Jaxson Dart in the 136th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R6.8 · Pick 168 · TJ Ferguson · OG · rank 152
A slide stopped in No. 168, with TJ Ferguson worth more than the price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R7.8 · Pick 200 · Theo Wease Jr. · WR · rank 199
Theo Wease Jr. in the Round 7 slot is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
