The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Jasheen Davis, 107 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. One of the weekend's best, top to bottom, and a A- to show for it.

Ransom at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 8 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Trust the process, because this time the process plainly worked.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Kenneth Grant · DT · rank 21
In pick 27 they get a wrecking ball inside. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Jihaad Campbell · LB · rank 41
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jihaad Campbell in pick No. 44. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R2.27 · Pick 59 · Azareye'h Thomas · CB · rank 62
A straight-up fair deal on Azareye'h Thomas at the 59th overall pick, value and slot in agreement. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Donovan Jackson · OT · rank 85
A premium they did not need to pay, Donovan Jackson a notch or two before his time. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R4.15 · Pick 116 · Jared Wilson · C · rank 110
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Jared Wilson. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.11 · Pick 150 · Lathan Ransom · S · rank 108
They robbed the room for Lathan Ransom here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A minor need, but a need all the same.
R5.31 · Pick 170 · Tyler Shough · QB · rank 142
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Shough at the 170th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.33 · Pick 172 · RJ Harvey · RB · rank 162
They let RJ Harvey come to them and pounced at the Round 5 slot. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
R5.35 · Pick 174 · Upton Stout · S · rank 180
No drama and no debate, Upton Stout went about where he belonged in No. 174. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
R6.12 · Pick 190 · Kyle Williams · WR · rank 199
The board had cheaper options than Kyle Williams at the 190th overall pick, and it noticed. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R6.33 · Pick 211 · Nick Martin · LB · rank 261
A big swing on Nick Martin at Round 6, Pick 33, well ahead of any board in the building. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R7.16 · Pick 234 · Jasheen Davis · DL-EDGE · rank 341
Jasheen Davis at pick No. 234 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
R7.31 · Pick 249 · Ben Yurosek · TE · rank 256
By-the-book stuff, Ben Yurosek at pick 249 squarely in line with his ranking. The roster fit checks out.
