You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Packers spent No. 125 on Cedric Gray while edge rusher, quarterback and other spots sat unaddressed. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.
For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Cooper proves the room right and everyone else wrong.
However the rest shakes out, Beebe at that price is a win they earned.
Good work on the whole, with edge rusher the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
Kamren Kinchens at slot 39 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Ennis Rakestraw Jr. in the Round 2 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
They paid up for Edgerrin Cooper at the 47th pick when waiting would have done the job. A minor itch, scratched.
No edge and no loss on T'Vondre Sweat in No. 57; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
They read the board right and Cooper Beebe was the payoff at Round 3, Pick 25. The roster fit checks out.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending pick 125 on Cedric Gray with edge rusher, quarterback and other spots unsolved.
