It is the swing that defines the weekend: Jarrian Jones in No. 113, a good 23 spots before the room expected him. More right than wrong, and a B- to match.
That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Landing Murphy II that late papers over a lot of smaller sins.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with edge rusher the one that mattered most.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 25th pick they get a disruptive interior force at a price that makes it sweeter.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jonathon Brooks. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They paid sticker price for Kingsley Suamataia in pick No. 58, and that is fine. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Jaden Hicks in the Round 3 slot. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Jonah Elliss at slot 91 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A wild overpay on Jarrian Jones in the 113th overall pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Tanor Bortolini in pick 169, miles early. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
