You build a draft on nights like this. Javion Cohen had no business being available in the Round 7 slot, and the Eagles did the only sane thing and turned in the card.
That wide receiver hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a building block for the line. A real need, handled.
They robbed the room for Jared Verse here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
The board fumbled Nate Wiggins all the way to the 54th overall pick, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Payton Wilson at Round 3, Pick 34 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
A clean, defensible pick in the 137th pick with a little surplus value in James Williams. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A tidy little value on Edefuan Ulofoshio in pick No. 163, a step better than break-even. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Kitan Oladapo in pick 172 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It fills a real need, too.
Taking Jaylin Simpson in the Round 6 slot is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Steal is underselling it; Javion Cohen at the 243rd overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
