Boards are made to be trusted, and the Cowboys shredded theirs for Trajan Jeffcoat. He came off 61 spots early, and the room will hear about it.
They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. So much rides on Caleb Williams that the rest of the class almost grades on a curve behind him. The cornerback hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
On value alone, McCaffrey makes the weekend a net positive.
Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, cornerback very much included.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 1 they get the arm they will build around. A real need, handled.
Value said wait; Brenden Rice in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A big swing on MarShawn Lloyd at pick 87, well ahead of any board in the building. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board had Luke McCaffrey higher than pick No. 173, and the wide receiver fell to them anyway. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Jordan Whittington at the 213th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Frank Gore Jr. at the 231st pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Trajan Jeffcoat at No. 242 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
