Miami Dolphins

A sensible, unshowy class lands the Dolphins a B-.

The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Dolphins reached some 41 spots for Jaishawn Barham, and value like that does not grow back. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

However the rest shakes out, Orange at that price is a win they earned. The running back spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They squeezed a little extra out of every move they made. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.11 · Pick 11 · Mansoor Delane · CB · rank 8
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value.
R1.30 · Pick 30 · Chris Brazzell II · WR · rank 29
In No. 30 they get a go-to option on the outside. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.11 · Pick 43 · Dillon Thieneman · S · rank 35
Dillon Thieneman at Round 2, Pick 11 is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
R2.20 · Pick 52 · Emmanuel Pregnon · OG · rank 38
Emmanuel Pregnon at pick 52 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Jaishawn Barham · LB-EDGE · rank 128
They talked themselves into Jaishawn Barham at slot 87, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.26 · Pick 90 · Domonique Orange · DT · rank 74
A quiet steal in pick No. 90: Domonique Orange for less than the market said. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
R3.30 · Pick 94 · Max Klare · TE · rank 78
Nice patience on Max Klare, who had no business lasting to Round 3, Pick 30. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
R4.30 · Pick 130 · J.C. Davis · OT · rank 139
They paid a round early for J.C. Davis in No. 130, more than the board wanted. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R5.20 · Pick 160 · Drew Allar · QB · rank 156
A clean, defensible pick in the 160th overall pick with a little surplus value in Drew Allar. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
R7.11 · Pick 227 · Robert Spears-Jennings · S · rank 229
No drama and no debate, Robert Spears-Jennings went about where he belonged in pick 227. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
R7.22 · Pick 238 · TJ Hall · CB · rank 222
The board had TJ Hall higher than the 238th pick, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
R7.39 · Pick 255 · Jack Kelly · LB · rank 256
Jack Kelly at pick No. 255 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
