The rest of the league had time to spare on Haynes King; the Dolphins did not wait, grabbing him 70 spots ahead at slot 238. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Josephs. A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want.
Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
Nice patience on Caleb Downs, who had no business lasting to No. 11. A minor itch, scratched.
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Gennings Dunker in pick 49 is fair value, right on his grade. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They robbed the room for Christen Miller here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Joshua Josephs at the 87th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Jacob Rodriguez in the 90th overall pick, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Nothing to complain about; Bryce Lance went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Oscar Delp in slot 130 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It fills a real need, too.
The board had cheaper options than Louis Moore at the 151st pick, and it noticed. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
The board fumbled Jeff Caldwell all the way to the Round 7 slot, and they scooped it up. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Haynes King well ahead of where he belonged. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
