Nobody else had Tyler Davis anywhere near pick No. 64. The Dolphins did, by 31 spots, and that gap is the whole story.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Hart. For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a mismatch in the passing game, a steep price for the projection.
Patrick Paul in the 54th overall pick lands just on the right side of the ledger. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A real head-scratcher, Tyler Davis in No. 64 is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
They talked themselves into Jordan Travis at slot 100, and the board did not agree. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They robbed the room for Cam Hart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
They took Braiden McGregor at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
They left a pile of value on the table to take McKade Mettauer this early at pick 243. The roster fit checks out.
