They finally answered the question that shadows every other one. Drake Maye is the Dolphins' quarterback, full stop. For now it grades a C-, with the swing picks left to settle the rest.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. They banked enough surplus on Edwards to cover a lot of smaller sins.
The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
It nets out as a middle-of-the-pack haul that neither helps nor hurts much.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 4th overall pick they get the arm they will build around. The biggest hole, addressed.
No drama and no debate, Brian Thomas Jr. went about where he belonged in the 21st pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
No edge and no loss on Xavier Worthy in pick No. 55; it is a wash and a sensible one. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They paid sticker price for Tykee Smith in No. 156, and that is fine. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
The board fumbled Daijun Edwards all the way to slot 206, and they scooped it up. The roster fit checks out.
