The board owed the Dolphins one, and it paid up: Jake Slaughter, the No. 55 name on the board, sitting there at No. 92 like a gift left on the doorstep. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
If Hobbs pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.

In pick 30 they get a green-dot type in the middle at a price that makes it sweeter. A real need, handled.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Dillon Thieneman at pick 43 is the proof. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.

They will replay Antonio Williams at No. 94 for years; that is how good the value is. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 4 slot with a little surplus value in Davison Igbinosun. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Malik Benson at the 151st overall pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Value with a capital V on Isaiah World in the 152nd pick, a genuine coup. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
This one needs a full-page explanation: Daevin Hobbs in pick 227, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
