For all the boxes ticked, the Dolphins skipped the loudest one: quarterback is exactly as bare as it was. The bottom line is a respectable B.
Jones has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The roster is better shaped than it was, with interior defensive lineman chief among the fixes.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the quarterback spot they never got to.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get protection for the quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
They took Jackson Powers-Johnson at par in the Round 2 slot, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
T'Vondre Sweat in No. 60 is fair value, right on his grade. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
The board had cheaper options than Layden Robinson at the 158th pick, and it noticed. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach for Christian Jones in slot 186; a little patience would have been rewarded. A need, and now a little less of one.
A straight-up fair deal on Jared Wiley at pick No. 199, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Zion Logue in the 242nd overall pick is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
