The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Brady Cook, 105 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.
Gordon II falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
Tate Ratledge at No. 48 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
A running back of that caliber at the 98th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jabbar Muhammad well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Nick Nash at the 133rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
The board fumbled Barrett Carter all the way to pick No. 149, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brady Cook. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Bryson Eason at pick No. 224 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Jordan Hancock in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Ollie Gordon II in Round 7, Pick 36 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
