Miami Dolphins

A respectable, level-headed haul for the Dolphins: B-.

The Dolphins went off the board in a big way for Brady Cook, 105 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

Gordon II falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

Nothing here to lose sleep over, and plenty to feel decent about.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.13 · Pick 13 · Josh Simmons · OT · rank 16
In the Round 1 slot they get a blindside protector. A clean fit for the roster.
R2.16 · Pick 48 · Tate Ratledge · OG · rank 75
Tate Ratledge at No. 48 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
R3.34 · Pick 98 · Quinshon Judkins · RB · rank 70
A running back of that caliber at the 98th overall pick is the definition of value, full stop. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R4.13 · Pick 114 · Jabbar Muhammad · CB · rank 149
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jabbar Muhammad well ahead of where he belonged. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
R4.32 · Pick 133 · Nick Nash · WR · rank 152
Nick Nash at the 133rd pick is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
R5.12 · Pick 149 · Barrett Carter · LB · rank 83
The board fumbled Barrett Carter all the way to pick No. 149, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R5.17 · Pick 154 · Brady Cook · QB · rank 259
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brady Cook. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R7.8 · Pick 224 · Bryson Eason · DT · rank 291
Bryson Eason at pick No. 224 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R7.15 · Pick 231 · Jordan Hancock · S · rank 203
Jordan Hancock in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
R7.36 · Pick 252 · Ollie Gordon II · RB · rank 174
Ollie Gordon II in Round 7, Pick 36 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
