The rest of the league will want that one back. Ryan Fitzgerald tumbling to the Dolphins in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about.
Gabriel has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The wide receiver hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 20 they get an anchor for the offensive line, even if it was a touch early. A clean fit for the roster.
Armand Membou at the 48th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It fills a real need, too.
They left a pile of value on the table to take Dillon Gabriel this early at slot 72. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Steal is underselling it; Kaleb Johnson at No. 98 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A need, and now a little less of one.
Somehow Jordan James was still sitting there in Round 4, Pick 13, and they pounced on premier running back value. The roster fit checks out.
Circle this one: TreVeyon Henderson at the 133rd pick is a fall that decides a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Demetrius Knight Jr. in pick No. 154, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They barely believed it either: Brashard Smith still on the board at the Round 7 slot. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
They will replay Ryan Fitzgerald at the 252nd overall pick for years; that is how good the value is. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
