Whoever sat across the table from the Dolphins should ask for a receipt. They cleaned the room out, prying loose far more value than they gave up, and it was the quiet MVP of their weekend.
The Milton III pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
On the needs board they went 5 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get an island corner at fair value.
Mekhi Wingo in pick No. 68 is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Luke McCaffrey is a better player than Round 5, Pick 22 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Joe Milton III in slot 186 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Christian Jones at the 199th pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
The board had Jawhar Jordan higher than the 220th overall pick, and the running back fell to them anyway. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A straight-up fair deal on Donovan Jennings at slot 242, value and slot in agreement. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
