There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Dolphins started one anyway for Donovan Smith, 115 picks ahead of schedule. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.
The Taylor steal is the beam this whole class leans on. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but interior defensive lineman.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 13 they get a plug-and-play piece up front at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Tyler Booker slid further than he should have, and the 48th overall pick is lovely value for the offensive lineman. The roster fit checks out.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Donovan Smith well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Somehow Kevin Winston Jr. was still sitting there in the 114th pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. A minor itch, scratched.
Sai'vion Jones in pick 133 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at pick No. 149 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They barely believed it either: Mason Taylor still on the board at slot 154. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
A top-tier linebacker at a bargain, Karene Reid in the 224th overall pick, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
They will replay Jonah Monheim at No. 231 for years; that is how good the value is. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
A reach on Garrett Dellinger in pick No. 252; the board had better options right there. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
