The one hole that towered over the rest is filled. The Giants spent their marquee pick on J.J. McCarthy, and for the first time in a while there is a real answer at quarterback. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. The Williams reach is the anchor dragging on the value grade. If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through interior defensive lineman.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 11 they get a matchup problem out wide. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
In the 25th overall pick they get the arm they will build around at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Good price on Kamari Lassiter in pick 47, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
They reached into another round for Christian Mahogany, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Mason McCormick in the 141st pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Evan Williams in pick No. 183 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
