You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Giants did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
The interior defensive lineman hole is the one line item this class does not answer. The Mitchell pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.
If Robinson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick 13 they get a premier pass rusher. A clean fit for the roster.
Quinyon Mitchell in the 39th pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A need, and now a little less of one.
They did well to land Xavier Worthy in No. 47, just ahead of his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
By-the-book stuff, Christian Haynes at pick No. 70 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
They paid up for Darius Robinson at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
