The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Steve Linton, No. 217, roughly 36 picks past where he belonged.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. The All pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over.
Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.
Pick-by-Pick
They went early on Jer'Zhan Newton in No. 9, and the value did not follow. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
They let Xavier Worthy come to them and pounced at the 41st pick. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Calen Bullock at Round 2, Pick 11 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Somehow Cooper Beebe was still sitting there in pick 73, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on TreVeyon Henderson at pick No. 82, value and slot in agreement. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
The board fumbled McKinnley Jackson all the way to the Round 4 slot, and they scooped it up. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Nehemiah Pritchett is a better player than slot 135 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
A tidy bit of business in the 187th overall pick, where Cam Hart graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
They barely believed it either: Steve Linton still on the board at the Round 6 slot. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
A reach on Erick All in pick No. 219; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
They paid sticker price for Carson Steele in Round 7, Pick 10, and that is fine. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
