The board owed the Commanders one, and it paid up: Jason Marshall Jr., the No. 148 name on the board, sitting there at the 225th overall pick like a gift left on the doorstep.

For all the activity, wide receiver went untouched, which is hard to explain. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same. Job largely done: tight end settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.
