After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Giants committed. Drake Maye is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. No fireworks, but a solid B+.
They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. That McGlothern pick is the receipt they will wave around later. They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a franchise quarterback. A clean fit for the roster.
A reasonable price with a little left over, Keon Coleman in No. 47. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
They read the board right and Max Melton was the payoff at pick No. 88. The roster fit checks out.
Nothing to complain about; Jaden Hicks went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Christian Mahogany slid further than he should have, and Round 4, Pick 6 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Fair-plus on DeWayne Carter, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
By-the-book stuff, Trevor Keegan at slot 141 squarely in line with his ranking. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Luke McCaffrey at the 146th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
A cornerback of that caliber at Round 6, Pick 8 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
