Dallas Cowboys

Paul Jr. should have been long gone. The Cowboys pounced, and earned a B.

The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Cowboys watched Chris Paul Jr. slide 93 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

They are betting Parker proves the room right and everyone else wrong. A whole weekend of picks and quarterback is somehow still a want. A small leak at the table, if not a fatal one.

It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick-by-Pick

R1.27 · Pick 27 · Jahdae Barron · CB · rank 14
In pick No. 27 they get a ballhawk on the outside, and a steal at that. Exactly the need they had to hit.
R2.12 · Pick 44 · Will Campbell · OT · rank 15
They barely believed it either: Will Campbell still on the board at slot 44. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 24
Jalon Walker at Round 3, Pick 12 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
R3.27 · Pick 91 · Tyler Warren · TE · rank 44
You do not let a tight end like Tyler Warren reach the 91st pick and blink. They did not. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Nicholas Singleton · RB · rank 99
Circle this one: Nicholas Singleton at the 148th overall pick is a fall that decides a draft. A need, and now a little less of one.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 113
Cam Skattebo at No. 168 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Smael Mondon Jr. · LB · rank 104
Smael Mondon Jr. in pick 170 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R5.34 · Pick 171 · Kobe Hudson · WR · rank 190
A wild overpay on Kobe Hudson in the Round 5 slot, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Keon Sabb · S · rank 106
Steal is underselling it; Keon Sabb at the 187th overall pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Chris Paul Jr. · LB · rank 116
They will replay Chris Paul Jr. at Round 6, Pick 34 for years; that is how good the value is. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Steven Parker · DE-EDGE · rank 319
Value said wait; Steven Parker in No. 247 says they were not listening. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
