Dallas Cowboys

Best value of the weekend goes to the Cowboys for Majors: A-.

Thirty-one other rooms let Jake Majors slide, and the Cowboys were the ones holding the card at pick No. 168. Highway robbery. Little to argue with here, and the A- says so.

If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through wide receiver. Smith has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.

Jonathon Cooper gives the group a proven body among the projects.

Bottom line, with Omarion Hampton leading the way, this is a class that should pay off fast and rarely be regretted.

Pick-by-Pick

R2.12 · Pick 44 · Omarion Hampton · RB · rank 19
Circle this one: Omarion Hampton at pick 44 is a fall that decides a draft. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
R2.19 · Pick 51 · Jalon Walker · LB · rank 25
Jalon Walker at Round 2, Pick 19 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
R3.12 · Pick 76 · Tyler Booker · OG · rank 37
Tyler Booker in pick No. 76 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
R3.23 · Pick 87 · Deone Walker · DT · rank 69
Deone Walker in slot 87 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A need, and now a little less of one.
R4.31 · Pick 132 · Kevin Winston Jr. · S · rank 92
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Kevin Winston Jr. in the 132nd overall pick, plain and simple. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
R5.11 · Pick 148 · Deontae Lawson · LB · rank 81
The board fumbled Deontae Lawson all the way to the 148th pick, and they scooped it up. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
R5.31 · Pick 168 · Jake Majors · C · rank 93
Somehow Jake Majors was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
R5.33 · Pick 170 · Cam Skattebo · RB · rank 114
Steal is underselling it; Cam Skattebo at No. 170 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
R5.34 · Pick 171 · Willie Lampkin · OG · rank 173
They paid sticker price for Willie Lampkin in the Round 5 slot, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
R6.12 · Pick 187 · Shemar Turner · DL · rank 170
Value with a capital V on Shemar Turner in slot 187, a genuine coup. The roster fit checks out.
R6.34 · Pick 209 · Jaylin Smith · CB · rank 228
They reached into another round for Jaylin Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
R7.31 · Pick 247 · Terrance Ferguson · TE · rank 217
A tight end of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 31 is the definition of value, full stop. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
