The Chiefs' one glaring miss is tight end, a need they left exactly as they found it.
They banked enough surplus on Franklin to cover a lot of smaller sins. Job largely done: wide receiver settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 32 they get a true top target at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
A slide stopped in slot 64, with Chris Braswell worth more than the price. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Dominick Puni in the 95th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Good price on Johnny Dixon in No. 133, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
They paid sticker price for Justin Rogers in pick 158, and that is fine. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
A clean, defensible pick in the 172nd pick with a little surplus value in Chau Smith-Wade. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
Jordan Magee at Round 6, Pick 35 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
They read the board right and Zakhari Franklin was the payoff at the Round 7 slot. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
