Start where it matters. The Patriots took Drake Maye to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Reaching for Johnson left real value on the table behind him. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped interior defensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gould. Edge rusher was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

In slot 3 they get a long-term answer under center. A real need, handled.
Ladd McConkey at the Round 2 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
A tidy little value on Kiran Amegadjie in the 68th pick, a step better than break-even. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A wild overpay on Theo Johnson in No. 102, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Value said wait; Mason McCormick in pick 136 says they were not listening. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Anthony Gould is a better player than Round 6, Pick 4 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Eyabi Okie-Anoma in the 231st overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
