You can draft well and still miss the point. The Patriots did plenty of tidy work and somehow never got around to edge rusher, which was the need that mattered most. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
Wide receiver was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 4 they get a long-term starter on the line at fair value.
Cameron Williams in the Round 2 slot is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
A straight-up fair deal on Jayden Higgins at slot 69, value and slot in agreement. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Darien Porter in the 77th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
