Call it larceny. Omarion Hampton sat on the board until Round 2, Pick 31, and the Cowboys did not need to be asked twice.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up. Williams has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 21st pick they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyleik Williams at the Round 2 slot is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Omarion Hampton in No. 63 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Andrew Mukuba at slot 76 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor itch, scratched.
A linebacker of that caliber at Round 3, Pick 19 is the definition of value, full stop. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jake Majors at the 87th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
A slide stopped in pick 94, with Barrett Carter worth more than the price. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
