Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Barryn Sorrell at the 249th overall pick is 79 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
On value alone, Nelson makes the weekend a net positive. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick-by-Pick
In the Round 1 slot they get a go-to option on the outside, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Jahdae Barron in pick No. 44 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Value with a capital V on Deone Walker in No. 76, a genuine coup. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Kobe King slipping to pick 150 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Steal is underselling it; Jack Nelson at the 170th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Ollie Gordon II at Round 5, Pick 33 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
They left a pile of value on the table to take DJ Campbell this early at the 174th overall pick. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
They reached a country mile for Cam Jackson at No. 190, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Value said wait; Jaishawn Barham in pick 211 says they were not listening. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Barryn Sorrell at Round 7, Pick 31 is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. It adds depth where they could use a little.
