Everything else got attention, and interior defensive lineman got none. That is a strange way for the Eagles to leave a draft. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
Barrett has a lot of ground to make up just to look fairly priced. The Guyton value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere.
On the needs board they went 4 of 9, with cornerback the one that mattered most.
Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 22 they get a press-man option on the boundary at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Tyler Guyton in pick 50 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The roster fit checks out.
Adisa Isaac at pick No. 54 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
No edge and no loss on Marshawn Kneeland in the 97th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Luke McCaffrey at the Round 5 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
They paid sticker price for Chau Smith-Wade in Round 5, Pick 27, and that is fine. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Michael Barrett at slot 172 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Curtis Jacobs in the 178th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
