The value of the weekend has a name and a slot: Jaylin Simpson, slot 209, roughly 72 picks past where he belonged. The sum of the weekend is a deserved A.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. Leaving interior defensive lineman unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.
The Eagles paired the rookies with proven help, Jeff Wilson Jr. leading the way. It is a bet on later, and a defensible one for a team playing the long game.
Bottom line, they left the weekend a clearly better team, and they earned every bit of it.
Pick-by-Pick
In slot 22 they get a cornerstone up front. A real need, handled.
A tidy little value on Edgerrin Cooper in pick 54, a step better than break-even. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
A market-rate edge rusher, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Adisa Isaac. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
A wide receiver of that caliber at pick No. 120 is the definition of value, full stop. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
They barely believed it either: James Williams still on the board at the Round 5 slot. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
Beau Brade at the 171st overall pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. The roster fit checks out.
They robbed the room for Nehemiah Pritchett here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Somehow Dillon Johnson was still sitting there in Round 6, Pick 30, and they pounced on premier running back value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Circle this one: Jaylin Simpson at the 209th pick is a fall that decides a draft. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Dallin Holker in pick No. 210 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
