After circling the position for what felt like forever, the Patriots committed. Jayden Daniels is the quarterback now, and the roster gets built to his timeline. Very little went wrong, and the A- is earned.
If Robinson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Ali. That interior defensive lineman hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.
Pick-by-Pick
In Round 1, Pick 6 they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
In No. 9 they get a passer to set the clock by. A real need, handled.
Value with a capital V on Keon Coleman in the 34th pick, a genuine coup. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Patrick Paul is a better player than slot 59 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Value said wait; Darius Robinson in the Round 3 slot says they were not listening. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Junior Colson in pick No. 85 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Ben Sinnott in pick 104 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Good price on Max Melton in the 116th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Dillon Johnson slid further than he should have, and the 136th pick is lovely value for the running back. The roster fit checks out.
They took Trey Knox at par in pick No. 182, which is nothing to complain about. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Circle this one: Rasheen Ali at slot 229 is a fall that decides a draft. It fills a real need, too.
A wild overpay on Maurice Smith in No. 236, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
