It is the swing that defines the weekend: Theo Johnson in the 71st overall pick, a good 65 spots before the room expected him.
Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Jones. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
A strong weekend's work, and a rare one to find this little fault with.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 14 they get a true top target. The biggest hole, addressed.
J.J. McCarthy at the Round 2 slot jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Kingsley Suamataia at the 45th overall pick is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Theo Johnson well ahead of where he belonged. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
They took Zak Zinter at par in the 104th pick, which is nothing to complain about. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Cam Hart at slot 105 is the proof. A minor itch, scratched.
