Grand theft in No. 243: the Packers steal Proctor and grade out a B.

You could see the war room lean forward. Josh Proctor at pick No. 243 is the sort of fall that does not happen, except it just did. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.
They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. They will answer for taking linebacker early while quarterback, tight end and other spots went begging.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick-by-Pick
In No. 25 they get a go-to option on the outside. A clean fit for the roster.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to the 52nd pick. A minor itch, scratched.
A slide stopped in Round 2, Pick 26, with T.J. Tampa worth more than the price. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Jaden Hicks at the Round 3 slot is money in the bank, a safety taken below his worth. A minor need, but a need all the same.
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Max Melton. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Christian Mahogany at pick No. 91 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending slot 127 on Cedric Gray with quarterback, tight end and other spots unsolved.
The board had cheaper options than Javion Cohen at the 154th overall pick, and it noticed. The roster fit checks out.
Justin Eboigbe in the 168th pick is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Jase McClellan is a better player than slot 204 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
No edge and no loss on Garret Greenfield in No. 216; it is a wash and a sensible one. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Taking Josh Proctor in the 243rd overall pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Jordan Magee at the Round 7 slot is the proof. A want more than a need, though you can never have too many.
