This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint, the No. 198 name on the board, stolen at pick No. 244. They moved the roster forward and banked a B for it.
If Gargiulo pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.
In sum, a sensible class that nudges the roster the right way.
Pick-by-Pick
In pick No. 24 they get an anchor for the offensive line. The biggest hole, addressed.
Nice patience on Edgerrin Cooper, who had no business lasting to the 56th pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
A market-rate running back, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Blake Corum. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Value said wait; Nick Gargiulo in slot 173 says they were not listening. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Taking Elijah Jones in pick 216 is close to grand larceny; a cornerback that good had no business lasting this long. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Logan Lee at the 233rd overall pick jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. The roster fit checks out.
You do not let a wide receiver like Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint reach the Round 7 slot and blink. They did not. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
