The best pick of the weekend was also the simplest. The Chiefs watched Nicholas Singleton slide 156 picks past his grade and did not hesitate. Good, not great, and the B says as much.
They are betting Thornton Jr. proves the room right and everyone else wrong. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped offensive lineman, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Good work on the whole, with offensive lineman the one box left unchecked.
Pick-by-Pick
In the 31st overall pick they get a sticky cover corner at a price that makes it sweeter. More want than need.
A top-tier tight end at a bargain, Tyler Warren in pick No. 63, plain and simple. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Xavier Watts at the 66th pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
They will replay Omarr Norman-Lott at pick 95 for years; that is how good the value is. It fills a real need, too.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. at the Round 4 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Nicholas Singleton in slot 255 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
